About Us

myHealth for Teens & Young Adults is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides basic and reproductive health care, education, and mental health counseling in an environment that is not only comfortable and welcoming to teens and young adults, but is professional and comparable to what you would expect from any other health provider.

In 1971, a local group of health care providers, school professionals, law enforcement, church officials, and high school students engaged in a planning process to address an increase in unplanned pregnancies and the emergence of sexually transmitted infections, in the context of a rapidly increasing youth population in the area. The planning group further acknowledged that, as an age group, teens and young adults were less likely than any others to seek out preventative services. West Suburban Teen Clinic was the result of their work, and opened in 1972. In 2012, we changed our name to myHealth for Teens & Young Adults.

myHealth serves a large geographic area spanning Hennepin, Scott, and Carver counties, with our clinic conveniently located in downtown Hopkins. We also serve a significant number of youth from other counties in the metro area and some from out of state. Our programming serves young people, including pregnant and parenting teens; uninsured and low-income young adults up to age 23; and parents, trusted adults, and other community organizations who work with youth. Ninety-eight percent of our clinic clients earn 250% below the Federal Poverty Guidelines (equal to $28,000/year). myHealth never turns anyone away based on their inability to pay. For patients with financial barriers, myHealth provides services for free or on a sliding fee scale.
